Local Anglican churches are preparing to attend the annual House of Delegates (HOD) meeting which is being held on Saturday, February 13, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach. The House of Delegates is the governing body of the Diocese of Western Anglicans. Each congregation within the Diocese has clergy and lay representation within the House of Delegates. All active clergy are automatically members of the HOD. The number of lay delegates from each congregation is determined based on the size of the congregation, with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 7 lay delegates. (read more...)
Bethel Seminary has announced a four-week Lenten Bible study class entitled “Christus Victor! The Resurrection in Christian Thought and Experience.” The announcement states that “Easter is the most important celebration of the year. In the redemptive story of scripture it is the resurrection that authenticates and gives meaning to everything we hold as true. Anglican Church of the Resurrection will be having a church yard sale this Saturday, January 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM – rain or shine. Items on sale (cash only) will include housewares, clothing, furniture, collectibles, bedding, artwork, electronics, etc. The church will also be serving free hotdogs to all attendees.

Archbishop Foley Beach has just returned from a gathering of the worldwide Anglican primates held at Canterbury Cathedral in England. The meeting was called by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury. Although there was no preset agenda for the meeting, the primates quickly decided that they should primarily address the issues raised by The Episcopal Church (TEC) in America related to same-sex marriage. This issue has become a lightning rod issue and has, in essence, torn the fabric of the Anglican Communion. (read more...)
