Herod Lets Bethlehem Infants Return for One Night: Offers Time of Healing
Readers of StandFirm will recognize the headline of this post as plagiarized from witty commenter, "Ireneas." It is taken from his posting of 14 April 2008 on a thread regarding Katherine Schori's completely farcical attempt at being nice to Bishop MacBurney and sums up my view neatly.
The story of what appears to be a temporary lifting of MacBurney's inhibited status so he can participate as a clergyman at his own son Page's funeral is covered in The Living Church, Anglicans United, and Episcopal Life Online among other places.
I tell ya folks. The only way I can possibly imagine this being anything beyond a self-inflating moment of false charity is when I think of how unartfully that woman has taken her original public relations blunder (inhibiting a retiring Bishop as his son lay dying), then immediately turning around to add this insult upon that injury by giving him the temporary pass. Who writes her script? You can't make this stuff up.
One generally starts with the assumption that leaders are calculating the potential public perceptions of their actions before actions are taken. What goes through this woman's mind?
The whole approach of 815 to these matters is horribly pathetic any way you look at it. Someone lately has made the comparison between Schori and President Bush and it's a good one. I'm really struck with how badly they've been bungling things these past few months. This latest from the PB is beyond absurd and suggests inner chaos at best.
Keep the prayers coming! Something's working.

Should someone encourage the PB to pray for guidance before she acts?
Or, at least, spend a little out of her court fees budget on a public relations advisor.
