Holy Trinity, Ocean Beach

Holy Trinity Ocean Beach

This Smells Funny...

Anybody else find this story a little bit over-anxious or odd in some other way?

We're quite familiar with Bishop Mathes' pattern of prematurity and over-enthusiasm when it comes to press releases flattering to him, and one is wise to take anything reported on Episcopal Life Online with a grain of salt, but then again, maybe this is the real deal.

Apparently, Bishop MacBurney and his detractors have struck some kind of deal.  Great if so, but I'll gathering a few more facts before I claim to understand exactly what has transpired here.

Forward in Faith North America Assembly 2008

Just a quick note to say I'll be at the Forward in Faith North America annual assembly this week.  Pictures & write up to follow...

This will be my first conference with this key Common Cause partner group.  My wife and I recently joined Forward in Faith because of their strong stance on traditional faith and practice.  FIFNA is different than other Common Cause partners in that they take the strongest stand for real unity with the church universal--unity with the millions who have come and gone before us as well as maintaining the potential of unity in the future with other, faithful constituencies of the "one holy catholic and apostolic church."

For the Dante Book Circle at Holy Trinity Parish

It's been SOOO nice to read Dante this year with fellow believers at the Holy Trinity Sunday night book circle. Nobody doubts it is a classic worthy of our attention and study, but only the chosen can possibly realize it's true vitality and immediacy for those living their lives in Christ.

Dante was an internet unto himself long before anyone dreamed of computers. It's no wonder, given his literary greatness and general omni-intelligence, that several large-scale web projects have been produced. Here is a sample of what's available online to supplement an actual reading of this master.

Anglican Heritage Tour in Ireland with Rev. Lawrence Bausch

Skellig Michael in IrelandExploring the Character of Ireland Tour. August 15 through 27, 2008 with Father Lawrence Bausch

"I really feel at home here with the early Christian church, its liturgy, its monasteries and its saints...."
