change is coming

Anglican Softball League - A HIT in any season!

The newly formed Anglican Softball League is up and running...and pitching and fielding and batting and cheering!

The first games of the season were played at the ball fields next to Sunset Hills School on the corner of Oviedo and Black Mountain Road in Rancho Penasquitos on Sunday, June 1 at 2pm.

The 4 teams that make up the league this season are Holy Trinity, St. Dunstan's, Resurrection, and TNT (Timothy & Titus).  It's a real treat having all 4 teams at the same location so we get to visit with everybody every week!

We started with a huge prayer circle of all the players and "cheerleaders" present and then went over the basic rules before breaking off into our separate games.

The best part was that everyone cheered for everyone else so it was sometimes hard to tell which team you were from or rooting for!

Games will be played every week through the end of July at the same location so come on out and join in the fun!  Bring chairs or blankets to sit on and a shade structure if you have one that is easily portable.  There are great playgrounds for the kids but no bathrooms on the site.  However, there are several stores and restaurants nearby for emergencies!  If you park at the school you will have to "jump the fence" to get to the ball fields or just park along the road(s) and walk up the ramp from Black Mtn Road to the playing area.  Those coming from farther away may want to carpool as well.

SO let's PLAY BALL!!!!

Could a team still join the league for the current season? I know there are several people at St. Michaels-Carlsbad who would love to be involved.

Dear Dude by the Sea - It is my understanding, having been to the Managers' meeting, that St. Michael's was trying to put a team together beforehand but did not accomplish that in time to be part of the league this season.  Since the game days and times are all set it would be nigh impossible to add another full team at this point without a complete redo of the season.   However, as Manager of the TNT Dynamos, and with my Rector's permission,  I would like to extend an invitation to any of your members who want to play to come and be a part of the league with us.  And knowing that at least one of the other churches that played last weekend could probably use more members as well, I imagine there are spots available on other team rosters too.  So I say, come on out to the ball games next week and we will find a place for you to play!  Everyone had a blast last Sunday and it is fun to have all the games/teams in the same location at the same time.  Blessings and PLAY BALL!
