A New Anglican Venture in Reno Nevada
Today, phase one of a little project I've been working on with a couple of guys up in Reno Nevada (yes, that's Katherine Jefferts Schori's town of residence) goes live.
Check out http://Sierra-Anglican.org.
We'll call it a "sister portal." It's an exciting church plant endeavor located where almost nothing exists currently in terms of options for Christians interested in orthodox Anglican faith and practice.
Nearby is St. Andrews Academy in Lake Almanor California, but other than that, the closest traditionally-minded Anglican churches are in Redding California to the west and the town of Bishop California to the south (where Rev Tony Faint, formerly of Resurrection San Marcos is now serving).
Anyway, say a prayer for this team as they get started on a scary/exciting/demanding new venture.

At this rate, maybe you Renovites ought to be thinking about a (continuum) diocese!
Fr Crites' ELM parish in
Fr Crites' ELM parish in North Reno is hooked up with a bishop in Africa. Fr Bauer is rector of St Columba's in Fernley (35 miles east of Reno). His parish has been there since 1991 and is part of the Episcopal Missionary Church's Diocese of the West. Fr Crites and Fr Bauer meet with each other every other week. Fr Bauer is a board member of the Fellowship of Concerned Churchmen. Both parishes are solid, traditional, valid clergy. Fr Crites uses the '79, Fr Bauer uses '28.
