Anglican Curmudgeon Parses Today's Out-of-Scope Court Ruling on St. John's Fallbrook True Vestry.
See Anglican Curmudgeon's analysis of today's Fourth District Court of Appeal Ruling pertaining to the (real) St John's Anglican Church, Fallbrook property dispute against the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego.
Get used to this kind of ambiguous news about court rulings on disputed California properties. Just like in the Anglican Communion, you're really going to be disappointed if you are sitting around, biting your nails, waiting for some clear and final pronouncement that will settle things once and for all. These various legal battles brought by your friendly Episcopal church against faithful congregations like St. John's Fallbrook will very likely go on for some time.
Make no mistake. Today's decision is a good example of the kind of back-and-forth, legal tit-for-tat we could be reading about for years to come. Don't ask me why the Diocese of San Diego thinks this is a good way to spend the church's money at a time like this, but we know the man at the top has made it clear to his diocesan advisors that, despite their objections, this is how the diocese will continue to spend it's money for some time to come--economic downturn, diocesan budget shortfalls, and MDG's be damned.
Thank God for the Anglican Curmudgeon, who breaks down today's decision in terms that joe-the-plumbers like me can (almost) understand.
Read the whole thing, unless your busy evangelizing people w/ the Good news of Jesus Christ. In that case, carry on and pay no mind.
