I meant to add that 23:00 minutes in is where Archbishop Venables explains his recently publicized (by Bishop Mathes) conversation with Bishop Mathes. If you got the impression from Bishop Mathes' publicizing of the event, that Archbishop Venables was apologizing in any way for providing asylum for departing parishes, priests, and dioceses, PLEASE listen to this important section.
A remarkable interview! I urge everyone to listen to it in its entirety. You will be blessed. What a pleasure it is to hear this man of God speak with such clarity. It brings into stark relief those who merely babble and say nothing. Abp.Venables is quite clear that the instruments of Communion are not working and that things are not going to be knit back together in the AC.
Incidentally, as he clearly stated in this interview, the graciousness with which he treated Bp. Mathes does not hint at any regret about taking fleeing diocese and congregations under his care, to the contrary, Venables was quite emphatic in the other direction.
Wow, once again I am reminded of how blessed we are to have such a godly and humble man to be our bishop. Bishop Greg, may the Lord bless you and keep you safe on your journey home!
I hate to speak Californian, but he is just so awesome! I am so grateful to have a bishop with such humility but clarity and firmness of conviction. I like how he described his conversation with Mates as "tranquilo." He also mentioned, "the toothpaste is out of the tube and I'm not sure we can put it back in." An appropriate image for the spiritual children who squeezed it out.
Like totally, dude. Way, way awesome.
